Sports Fact of the Day 4/16/2007

4/16/1961:
A shorthanded goal by Reggie Fleming midway in the second period changes the tide of the game and leads the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-1 win over Detroit and their first Stanley Cup title in 23 years. Chicago had ended Montreal's streak of five consecutive Cup titles by upsetting the Canadiens in the semifinals. Three of the five Chicago goals are unassisted as the Red Wings defense tries to press forward on offense, leading to several breakaways. It proves to be Chicago's last NHL championship of the 20th century.
