Completing one of hockey's foremost scoring combinations, the Buffalo Sabres acquire right wing Rene Robert from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Robert joins center Gilbert Perreault and left wing Rick Martin in the French Connection, a trio who will make the second-year expanion Buffalo franchise a viable force in the league. During the seven years that they skate together, Robert will score 222 goals.
