Atlanta Hawks forward Dominique Wilkins, known as "the Human Highlight Film" for his high-flying dunks and all-around spectacular play, hits all 23 of his foul shots to surpass the single-game NBA mark of 19-for-19 shared by Bob Pettit, Bill Cartwright and Adrian Dantley. Wilkins winds up with 42 points and the Hawks convert 39 of 40 free throws, coasting to a 123-114 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Evidence of Things Unseen is a literary sure thing. The Los Angeles Times calls it “a stirring human drama.” The Chicago Tribune raves, “spectacular.” The book was a finalist for the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize, and Wiggins herself has received both an NEA grant and a Whiting Writers’ Award. A love story set between the world wars, Evidence of Things Unseen manages to be both epic and intimate. It’s an extraordinarily rich, moving, and unforgettable novel.
