6/15/1975:
Lured out of retirement by a multimillion-dollar contract with the New York Cosmos, Brazilian soccer star Pele plays the entire 90 minutes in a 2-2 tie with the Dallas Tornado at Randall's Island Stadium. Pele's impact on the nearly invisible North American Soccer League is immediate but short-lived. When he reitres again following the 1977 seasons, soccer will return to the backburner on the American sports landscape.
