Sports Fact and Book Rec of the Day 7/20/2007
7/20/2002:
Unbeaten at 35-0, Vernon Forrest holds on to his WBC welterweight title with a unanimous 12-round decision over Sugar Shane Mosley (38-2) at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Forrest, who took the crown from Mosley on a unanimous decision in January, deftly counterpunches all of Mosley's aggressive advances and wins most of the later rounds. The largeest crowd in Indiana boxing history, 15,755, looks on as he retains the championship belt in the 147-pound rank.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is not just some B-movie. It’s a great book by an A-plus writer, the inimitable Jack Finney, author of perennial bestseller Time and Again (1970; Touchstone, 1995). Creepy to the core, it’s the story of a doctor who comes to believe that there is something wrong with the citizens of Mill Valley. Very wrong. An essential sci-fi classic.
