Sports Fact of the Day 5/4/2007

5/4/1910:
President William Howard Taft, an avid baseball enthusiast, enjoys his own doubleheader during a trip to St. Louis. Starting his busy afternoon at Robison Field, he sees the first two innings of a National League game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Cardinals, then heads over to Sportsman's Park, where the Cleveland Indians are in town to play the Browns. The chief executive stays for the finish of that contest, which lasts until darkness falls and ends in a 3-3 tie after 14 innings. For good measure on his way back to Washington by train later this week, he'll stop off in Pittsburgh and visit Forbes Field for yet another ball game.
