Starting off his career with a bang, Will "the Thrill" Clark homers in his first major league at bat off Nolan Ryan at the Astrodome, leading the San Francisco Giants to an 8-3 victory on Opening Day. A star collegian at Mississippi State, Clark becomes the 61st player to break into the bigs with a homer. He'll compile a fine 15-year career with 2,176 hits and a .303 batting average.
