Sports Fact and Book Rec of the Day 11/19/2007
11/19/1989:
The United States advances to the World Cup of soccer with a 1-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in an elimination qualifier in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Paul Caligiuri scores in the 31st minute, and goaltender Tony Meola makes it stand up as Team USA earns its first berth in soccer's quadrennial championship tournament since 1950. Even though the Americans fail to win a game next summer in Italy, this win serves as a quantum step forward for soccer in the United States.

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back in another of Evanovich’s trademark romps—part scary, part sassy. Here Plum has decided to give up her dangerous, exciting work in favor of something safe and bland. But they—her friends and some fiends, including a menacing old client—keep pulling her back in.
