Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku Reteam for “Dollhouse”
The good news is Joss Whedon is returning to TV with a new series, and Eliza Dushku is attached to star. The bad news is it won’t involve Dushku reprising her role as Faith the vampire slayer.
Instead, Whedon will return to Fox with a new action-drama series called “Dollhouse”. Tim Minear, who collaborated with Whedon on Angel and Firefly, is apparently on board as well. The show is expected to hit the airwaves some time next year.
“Dollhouse” stars Dushku as Echo, one of a group of secret agents living in a futuristic dorm. Each has the ability to be imprinted with custom personalities and abilities for special assignments. When they return, their newly acquired memories are wiped. The show follows Echo as she takes on a variety of assignments—some romantic, some adventurous, some uplifting, some illegal—and gains awareness of her role and confinement.
For you Buffy fans, Whedon did have a few things to say about the “Ripper” mini-series but unfortunetly it doesn’t look like there has been much movement on the project.
There isn’t anything new. It might become too problematic. The rights issue with “Ripper” becomes complicated. There are other characters in the woods. We may have to do some fancy footwork. Obviously I’m committed to [”Dollhouse”], but that does not mean I’m not doing “Ripper.”
