Sports Fact and Book Rec of the Day 9/11/2007
9/11/1999:
Eric Milton pitches a no-hitter and almost has to apologize for it afterwards, as the Minnesota Twins blank Anaheim, 7-0, at the Metrodome. In an annual local circumstance, the Saturday game starts at 11:00 A.M., to allow the stadium to also be used in the evening for a Minnesota Gophers football game. Having played the night before, Anaheim posts a lineup of reserves and Triple A call-ups. Regulars Mo Vaughn, Tim Salmon, Jim Edmonds, Darin Erstad, Garret Anderson and Gary DiSarcina all sit this one out as Milton crafts his gem, fanning 13.

Amanda Quick (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) is at the top of her game in another delightful Regency-era romance. This one is a romp as hero and heroine become sleuths in a murder mystery. Not all romances are created equal, and Quickâs are guaranteed to be a cut above the norm. So if you would prefer to be at a masked ball flirting with a dashing lord, than in the drone of everyday life, The Paid Companion is your passport.
